Week 28: Do You not Know? Do You not Hear?
One of the most wonderful things about hybrid homeschooling is watching older students teach the younger ones. If you have more than one child at home, you see this all the time. But at The Well, we see this type of instruction (also discipleship) happening all over. Whether its Olivia with a group of Seeds girls (pictured above) or Mr. Jean in his mentoring class with the Oaks on Tuesday, it is such a special privilege to watch this occur. One generation proclaims (because they KNOW) and another HEARS about His mighty acts.

THE GARDEN
Even though we met once this week, we learned about an important story and theme. In worship, we saw the story of Lazarus and how Jesus raised him from the dead. This was a powerful foreshadowing of Jesus’ resurrection and proved to those around Him that Jesus had power over death. We saw that many began to follow Jesus as a result of this and yet many of the teachers and scribes at the time were getting increasingly upset. Later during activity time, we introduced the activity of sewing with embroidery needles. The children could use a hoop with burlap or a plastic square with holes. They could add buttons or “draw” something with the string. They will continue to work on these projects. The students also wanted to play with the characters from the worship story to retell the story of Lazarus as well as play with the sand and rocks in the discovery table.
SEEDS
There was a lot of DRAMA happening at Seeds this week. Not the bad kind, but the good! The Seeds enjoyed a lot of imaginative play and theater as they played some theater games inside and even had a “mock trial” outside in the playground. Poor Mr. Jonathan was on trial! It seems that the courtroom game will become a new favorite for the kids.
In our study of Bible and History, Judah from the Oaks program told us the story of Jonah. We talked about in class, that Jonah was one of the final prophets that the LORD called from the northern kingdom of Israel before it fell to the Assyrians and they were killed and/or taken into captivity. You can read more about this in this week’s readings.
OAKS
It was Judah’s turn to lead the worship story this week, and he did it very well, telling us the story of Jonah. We enjoyed how he emphasized that this was a story about obedience, both Jonah’s to God and then the Ninevites to the warning of judgment. We learned that obedience is not just what occurs on the outside, but begins in the heart.
The Oaks enjoyed time in the park and it seemed like they wanted to continue some of the games that we had started last week during Game Day! They can’t get enough of the fun.
Memory Verse
“Do you not know? Do you not hear?
Has it not been told you from the beginning?
Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth?”
