THE GARDEN
On Tuesday, we learned about kangaroos and how the mommy kangaroo keeps her babies safe in her pouch until they are ready to come out. The babies can jump back and be with their mom even as they grow. We learned that God keeps us safe and close as well. At the park we had a jumping competition to see how far they could jump. After they had jumped, I showed them how far a kangaroo can jump: 30 feet! They were astounded. Then we saw how many of their jumps would be the same as a kangaroo jump. Mr. Jean did four jumps and the kids had a range of 7-12 jumps. On Thursday, we enjoyed sharing our costumes and going to the park together. I taught them a new song that they could sing when they felt scared to remember that God is in control and that He keeps us safe. It is based on Psalm 46:10: “Be still and know that I am God.” We will be singing that song together over the next few weeks.

SEEDS
It was Biblical Costume Day at Seeds on Thursday. But before that, we honored Angelica for her birthday. In Science, before transitioning to what God made on the fifth day of creation, our students worked on a few activities together. Our younger students had a chance to draw and paint the constellation of their choice while the older student went outside to do an activity to learn about the distance of the planets in relation to the sun. We used toilet paper and each square as the measurement to scale it to. The kids were each assigned a planet, the sun, or an asteroid belt to attach to it. I told them where to place each label and they had to count to find it. After we finished the activity, we went inside to do a brief intro on the fifth day of Creation and to record our learning in our journals.
OAKS
Biblical costume fun continued in the Oaks Program! On Thursday, Mateo led the worship story, describing how the kingdom of Israel was torn in two after King Rehoboam’s unwise actions towards the people. He remained with only two tribes supporting his monarchy, forming the new southern kingdom of Judah, while the other 10 tribes formed the northern kingdom of Israel. This story was particularly fun to watch as many of the students were in costume while they told the story.

Memory Verse
“The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness, for His namesake, He restores my soul. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me, among my enemies...”
