THE GARDEN

The letter “P” was so fun to focus on this week! We could hear words with the sound everywhere! On Tuesday, we enjoyed our Play time  and then had a Picnic in the terrace at the Park! Inside, we drew Penguins together and had a dance Party with scarves as we did some movement exercises and Pretended to be penguins. We tried to move an egg between our legs across the classroom like the very good penguin dads do in Antarctica. On Thursday, we had a blast with our Pajamas. We Painted some cards to thank our Parents for taking good care of us, and Played a new board game with Mr. Jean. In our worship time, we used the example of the great care the penguin fathers have for their babies, to talk about how our parents show love to us and how we can show love to them.

This week:

Letter: “K” for “Kangaroo”

Theme: I am safe in God

SEEDS

We had a fun time this week, as the Oaks students continued leading worship time at the start of the day. It was Olivia’s turn and she told the story of David and Bathsheba. She did a great job using both the wooden figures and her fellow Oaks as actors. But the best part was learning that despite the great sins David committed, he was ready to repent and be restored to his relationship with God once again.

Pajama day was super fun and we even got some students dressing as twins and triplets, without even noticing (check out Isabel and Isabelle’s twin shot below)! Other fun things that occurred this week was honoring Estella and reading her birthday book AND having an observational art activity with our seashell. This reminded us of what we have been learning about the Phoenicians.

This week we focused on the stars that the Lord placed in the firmament. We started with a basic introduction answering a few questions: What are they really? What are they made of? Which star is closest to Earth? Are they really that small and have five points? After our discussion and looking at pictures, we began to talk about constellations. I asked them if they had ever seen some of the pictures that the stars appear to make in the sky. We noted that some constellations are visible sometimes of the year and others are not. Then, we looked at several example constellations as a prelude to our art activity. The older students were able to choose a constellation and draw it with white crayon and later use paint to make the stars darker. Finally, they were able to tap paintbrushes with a little bit of paint to create the effect of other stars around it. They loved adding the name of the constellations and some of them made more than one. Our younger students will also be able to do this project this week.

Oaks

Well pajama day was not only fun for the young ones. The Oaks too got in on the action! Triplets Judah, Channeliz and Joshua can be seen striking a pose in one of the photos below. Many of the other pictures below show Olivia prepping for her story and then presenting it with her classmates. In History, the Oaks focused on creating a map of the trade routes of the Phoenicians. In their Biology class, the students worked on learning about the digestive system.

Arts Academy

We worked on more improv exercises this week. Check out the students self-created situational improvs!

Memory Verse

The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness, for His namesake, He restores my soul. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me, among my enemies...
