Arts and Education for the Glory of God!

Week 7 - Exploring New Places

WATER from the Well

Week 7 · October 12, 2026 · 2026–2027 Program Year

The Garden kids had fun exploring the areas outside in search of materials from nature they could mix into their playtime, while the older kids learned more about the exploration of new lands as colonies began to form in early America.

THE GARDEN

This week during worship time, we heard the story of the first two brothers in the world, Cain and Abel, and how they each brought an offering to God. Abel happily gave God the very best of his flock with a joyful and loving heart. Cain also brought some of his fruits, but he did not give God his very best.

God was pleased with Abel’s offering because it came from a loving heart. This made Cain feel angry and jealous. Instead of making a good choice, Cain let his anger lead him to do something very wrong. You can find this story in Genesis 4: 1-16. When we feel angry, jealous, or upset, we can pray and ask God to help us make good choices.

We also learned that a long, long time ago, the world became a mean and unhappy place because people stopped being kind to one another and forgot about God. But one man named Noah chose to do what was right and loved God with all his heart. God told Noah to build a big big boat called an Ark (Genesis chapters 6-9).

During circle time this week, we continued learning about trees! We talked about the beautiful Flamboyán tree and how wonderfully God created it. Mrs. Doreen brought us a branch so we could explore its colorful flowers, green leaves, and giant seed pods. We even opened one of the woody pods and discovered the seeds hidden inside! What an exciting way to learn about the wonders of nature!

During activity time, we had lots of fun exploring our creativity! 🎨 We used our fingers and hands to mix shaving cream and paint, enjoying the different colors and textures. We also created our very own Flamboyán trees by tearing pieces of paper and gluing them together to form the tree. What a fun way to learn through art and hands-on exploration!

Songs: “Shake shake the mango tree”, “Head and shoulders” and “Open and shut them”

Story time: Ten Apples Up on Top andWaiting

SEEDS

Worship

This week, we began to learn a new song to commemorate the new “Name of God” we are reviewing: The Rock! We read from the book of Matthew, where Jesus taught that the wise man builds his house upon the rock, which is the true Word of God. The Bible teaches that both Jesus and the Word are a rock for us for He is the Word and the Rock of our Salvation. We also honored Amanda Valentina and Mercedes for their birthdays.

Science

Aquatic mammals took a front row seat this week. We talked about how God gave these amazing mammals sleek bodies to swim and dive deep underwater. Because they have lungs, they must surface for air so God designed them with a blowhole. We enjoyed watching pictures and fun videos about whales and dolphins. Lastly, we talked about another group of peculiar mammals: marsupials. Marsupials have a pouch and after their babies are born, they smell their way into their mama's pouch where they finish developing before entering the world officially. We loved seeing the pictures of the wombats, kangaroos, and koalas. This week, we will begin learning about another group of animals: birds.

History

We began learning about the first colonies that formed before the United States was a country. We learned how each colony was formed for specific reasons and gave the people who lived their certain freedoms. We opened up a map of the U.S. and placed Lego friends on each of the colonies we learned about. We also learned that back in England, there were several rulers that were in power including Charles I, Oliver Cromwell and Charles II.

Continue reviewing the memorization of James 1:1-11.

Science

In Physics we discussed the electromagnetic spectrum. We learned that there is so much more light and energy that we can perceive, and that visible light is only a sliver right in the middle of the spectrum. We can perceive the light and all the colors the rainbow is composed of. The waves in the spectrum vary in frequency and wavelength; those with higher frequencies have more energy and vice versa. We also learned about radio waves and transmission. To illustrate this we had a fun round of karaoke and explained how modulation worked. The students will have their second test next Thursday.

In Anatomy we began to memorize the bones in the front of the body. The kids used our new classroom skeleton to point out the different bones. We also worked on labeling a blank skeleton with the bones we have learned. Next week they will begin to learn about the bones on the back of the skeletal system.

History

In our History class, we went into detail about the wars that emerged between the Catholic and Protestant kingdoms of Europe in the 1600’s. In the mainland, this particular way lasted 30 years, while in England, it led to the arrest and execution of the British King, Charles I. For a time, there was no official king of England until years later, during a period called the Restoration, Charles’ son was appointed the new king.
