Week 10- A Blast from the Past!
WATER from the Well
Week 10 · November 2, 2026 · 2026–2027 Program Year
The Seeds kids had a great time making a recipe from the 17th Century: Hasty Pudding! The Garden students enjoyed painting while the Oaks faced obstacles in the park. See below for photos from the week.
THE GARDEN
Worship time
Bible verses: Genesis 15-5
This week during worship time, we continued learning about God’s plan for Abraham’s life. God made a special promise to Abraham that he and his wife, Sarah, would have a child. However, they were already very old, so it was hard for them to believe this could happen.
Song: God loves for me/God cares for me
One night, God spoke to Abraham and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars, if you can. That is how many descendants you will have!” God promised Abraham that his family would grow into a great nation. And just as God promised, Abraham and Sarah had their very first son, Isaac!
We learned that God always keeps His promises, even when something seems impossible!
This week, we also had the opportunity to help the church with a special service project! We packed bags of food for people in need and enjoyed showing kindness by helping others.
During circle time, we had a special visitor! A bird puppet friend named Pokey came to visit us. He showed us some of his favorite foods, and we had fun exploring, seeing, and touching different kinds of seeds. What a fun way to learn about birds.
During activity time, we had so much fun exploring and learning! We played with the sand table while searching for tiny ants and pumpkins, splashed and played with water tables, and used blocks to build a big road for our cars. We also got creative by using clay to make bird nests with little eggs inside. To top it all off, we learned how to draw birds with Mrs. Vivi. What a fun-filled time of playing, creating, and learning!

SEEDS
Worship
Mr. Jared and Mrs. Vivi enjoyed sharing the worship story found in John 4 about the woman at the well. This is one of the primary inspirations behind The Well Center and so it is always a joy to share how an encounter with Jesus can not only change one person, but a whole community as well. Mr. Jean presented his new song, “Giver of Living Waters,” and the kids sounded beautiful as they began to learn it.
Science
This Friday we began working on our second watercolor project, which will help the students learn about water control in this medium. The project will be a beautiful sunset, but before starting we need to complete two practice lessons to learn certain skills. The first lesson helped us see how using too little water makes the paint look chalky or like "butter." When adding lots of water, the paint looks like "tea. When adding more color to that, the paint looks like "milk," and finally, with even more color the paint looks like "cream." The instructor compared these textures to everyday things so the students could relate to them. In the end, the kids created four squares demonstrating the paint differences in a gradient format. The second part of the class involved experimenting with painting "wet-on-dry" for more sharper lines and greater control versus "dry-on-dry" for blurrier and less defined results.
In Science, we discussed the different beaks and feet that birds have. The beaks and feet relate to the birds' activities and the food they eat. We discussed the differences and then drew some of the different beaks and feet. This week we will finish our unit on birds and move on to fish.
History
In our History classes, we continued learning about the 13 colonies and had a great time making a traditional recipe, Hasty Pudding. There were mixed reviews as to who liked it or not, but overall the “thumbs up” beat the “thumbs down.” Since this was such a simple meal to make, I challenged the students to try making some at home this weekend and we received a few pictures of some who rose to the occasion. Thank you for those great photos!
OAKS
Worship
We continued our study of the book, A Young Person’s Guide to Knowing God and memorizing our next section of James which tells us that all good gifts come from God.
History
In History class, we learned about “King Philip’s War,” the bloodiest battle to occur in colonial America. The students read the passages together, identified who were on the two sides of the war and analyzed the reasons that both sides chose to engage in conflict. It was a great time to dig deeper into the causes and consequences of war.

Physical Education
Mrs. Michelle brought the OAKS outdoors this week and it proved to be a great time of community and fun. The students participated in challenging obstacles and worked together to complete tasks. It was clear that as they exercised their bodies, they had a great time too.
Science
This week the Physics class learned about the speed of light, the speed of sound, velocity, speed and the difference between them. They learned about the world's fastest animals and how to calculate the average speed of an object in different word problems.
The Anatomy students played their review game and did extremely well on their second test about the skeletal system. They even received bonus points for naming a few extra bones at the end of the test. They will begin studying the skeletal system next week.
