THE GARDEN

Though we were together just one day, it was so very memorable! We began our adventure day worshipping the Lord in the gazebo at the Torrimar park. Then we practiced our theme of the week by playing a little game. No matter where they were or what they were doing, when a teacher said: “I obey…” they needed to reply “right way! and walk over to the teacher that said it. We did this after discussing the importance of not delaying when being asked to do something. After spending some time at the playground we regrouped to have a snack and discuss our plan for the nature walk. We walked across the park to a small spring and enjoyed throwing leaves and rocks into the water. On the way back, I challenged them to find sticks to bring back for our final activity. When we arrived at the gazebo, I presented them with different colored yarn and told them to choose a color and start wrapping their sticks. They chose the colors until they filled their sticks to decorate their sticks.  They were so proud of their creations!

SEEDS & OAKS

Even though Week 22 was different, we still had a lot of fun! The SEEDS group met online via ZOOM and we spent a lot of time talking about yurts, the home structures built by the ancient Scythian people group. The students were challenged to work on their own yurts at home and we got some great examples over the break week. In Science, the kids were excited to show Mrs. Vivi and their friends how their grass heads were growing. We also began our study on what God made on the fourth day of Creation. They drew the planets of our solar system and learned the following sentence to remember their order starting from the sun. “My Very Expensive Monkey Just Served Us Nutella” for “Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. We also were able to see the OAKS begin their worship stories, beginning with Channeliz, telling the story of how David escaped the hand of King Saul. The full day OAKS students were able to meet at the Torrimar Park. We did our readings, reviewed the books of the Bible with basketball free throws, and went on a walk throughout the park.

Memory Verse

The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness, for His namesake, He restores my soul. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me, among my enemies
