Since 2019, the Well has sought to serve homeschooling families, by providing a place for kids to grow, both in their talents and in their love for God. What a privilege to see that growth everyday and for that we are thankful!

THE GARDEN
Praise the Lord! We had another wonder-full week. We are so happy to see the children arrive excited and full of anticipation for what the day will bring, with their arms wide open and ready to hug their teachers.
Our worship time continues to be a wonderful experience as the children love learning about God’s creation. There were moments this week in park time when the whole group played together, using their imaginations while chasing dragons and saving princesses. In circle time, we learned some new songs, such as “If You’re Happy and You Know It, Clap Your Hands” and “Five Little Ducks.”

During activity time, we continued practicing the proper use of each area. In the block area, we remind the children that we build “safe and strong, not tall.” We have also had some very happy little chefs in the kitchen area! We are truly happy to see that, in such a short time, this group has bonded so quickly and already feels like one big family. To God be the glory!

SEEDS
This week in Seeds worship we began learning our new name of God: “The Light of the World.” Jesus, in John 8 declared that this was who He was and it pointed back to Him being like the pillar of Fire that provided light and guidance to the Israelites in the wilderness. It also challenged those who thought that they could “see” but who were really blind and didn’t recognize Jesus as the Messiah.
In Science, we learned about mammals and the characteristics that scientists use to classify them; mammals nurse their young, give birth to live babies (except the platypus and the echidna), have skin or fur, have lungs, and are warm-blooded. We discussed how even though humans fit all of that criteria, we are more than just animals. We are the only ones given the gift of being created in God’s image and with the ability to have a relationship with Him. In addition, God endowed us with the responsibility to take care of His creation and make it fruitful. What a privilege!
In History we finished our Four seasons drawings and began discussing the period of when the power shifted during the Age of Exploration. Spain was the superpower of the time, but defeats by the Netherlands and England drastically weakened the Spanish fleet of ships. This helped England rise to dominance under Queen Elizabeth and then King James, who we will read about this week.

Finally in Studio, we took time to finish our first watercolor lesson this week and the kids were excited to see how they could make different shapes with their brushes (like waves, dots, and tear drops) that could become a variety of things in their future projects.
OAKS
Our Oaks morning students just finished the Epic of Gilgamesh, while all the students continue to work on their creative writing projects under Mr. Jean’s guidance, inspired by our book, “A Young Person’s Guide to Knowing God.” They also continue to work out their minds and bodies with Mrs. Michelle, building their fitness notebook, and in History, are covering a huge range of time reading from The Story of the World. This week in Science, we finished chapter 3 and began preparing for our first test. On Thursday, the students brought questions they thought would be included in the test and we played a trivia review game. This first test will be with an open notebook and the students were encouraged to work on their notes over the weekend in preparation for the test on Tuesday.
