Week 32: Fun and Games 2026!
Last Friday, we enjoyed a day out in the sun for our annual Family Game Day with our friends from Logos Academy held at Parque de los Niños in Bayamón. Praise the Lord for good weather, no injuries and great memories made with friends and family. Scroll to the end of the page for some pictures of the event.
The Garden
This week during worship time, we heard about a special gift that Jesus promised to His followers: the Holy Spirit, a helper who stays with us always. The Holy Spirit brings comfort when we are scared or sad and gives us the power to be brave and do God’s work. You can read about in John 14:17
We also learned about Peter using the power that Jesus gave him to help others. A man who couldn’t walk sat at the Temple gate every day. He begged for money, but Peter didn’t have any to give. Peter prayed for him to be healed and said, “In the name of Jesus, walk!” The man was healed and was able to walk, jump, and praise God. Acts 3: 1-10
At Circle Time, we continue to have fun playing the rhythm sticks with “The Clap Clap Song” by The Klaxons. We are learning to listen carefully to the music and follow the rhythmic tapping and pausing at just the right time. Rhythm sticks are excellent for children because they enhance fine motor skills, improve hand-eye coordination, and develop listening skills.
During activity time, we were able to use play dough to form bugs like caterpillars and butterflies, ants and ladybugs. We also made pepperoni pizzas for Ms. Doreen to eat.
Ms. Vivi gave us a special art class where we used many colorful paints and tissue paper to learn a new way to make art, inspired by the style that famous author and artist Eric Carle used in his books: The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Very Quiet Cricket, and The Very Busy Spider. We used many different items to create patterns, such as forks, Q-tips, and pasta. We are excited to finish what we started making this coming week.
Stories: A Butterfly is Patient and The Pop- Up Butterflies book.
The Seeds Program
BIBLE
We had an absolute blast at our Game Day on Friday! Thanks to all the families for coming out and cheering on our students. A special shout out to all the parent helpers as well as Mrs. Michelle, who prepared our students for the day although she was not able to join us due to her son (and fellow Oaks student) Jeremias’ try out for the Puerto Rican National Soccer Team in Florida.
In worship time, the students reviewed some of the short scenes they have worked on to remember the verses in 1 Corinthians 13. We also enjoyed honoring Amanda Cristina and reading her birthday book, It Came in the Mail.
SCIENCE
This week, we delved deeper into our introduction of Astronomy. We learned that the word astronomy comes from the latin root words aster and onomy that mean “star” and “the study of.” We looked at the order of the planets from the sun and focused on Earth. Our planet was not assigned to any student to do a presentation so we will be studying that together. We discussed how God placed the Earth in the perfect place in our solar system. We will discuss more about Earth this week. **Please note that the Astronomy project presentations have been moved to Friday, May 15.**
HISTORY
In History class, we wrapped up our drawings of the Mona Lisa as we discussed the Renaissance and also the Age of Exploration. This time period was marked by many sea voyages from people like Vasco de Gama, Christopher Columbus and John Cabot. We marked our maps in class to see where these ships sailed.

Seeds Memory Verse
“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,”
The Oaks Program
BIBLE
In Oaks, we are on our last chapter of the book, More than a Carpenter. The chapter is entitled, “He Changed my Life.” As an activity, the faculty of Oaks: myself, Mrs. Vivi, Mrs. Catherine and Mr. Jean got to share our testimonies briefly on how Jesus changed our lives. We spoke on being brought from darkness to light and how the Gospel truly helped mold our hearts and trust God in complete surrender. While not being perfect, we have come to trust in the Perfect One and His work in our lives is what has made all the difference. We hope that this encourages the students to live for Jesus and walk together in holiness.
SCIENCE
The Chemistry class had a delightful time putting their newly gained cooking chemistry knowledge into action! We had so much fun making waffles, eggs, and toad in the holes all while discussing the possible thermal and chemical reactions occurring during the cooking process. We were also able to see how the Maillard reaction--a complex chemical reaction between amino acids and reducing sugars--plays a key role in making food delicious by tasting the yummy cookies and flan brought in by some of the students. And we also got to taste some homemade meringues--a quite delicious form of a foam, which is when air is introduced into a liquid such as egg whites.
On Tuesday, the Marine Science students did an excellent job on their final test of the whole year! I know they are relieved about that. And on Thursday, we had the chance to dissect a spiny dogfish shark. After identifying some external features like the upper and lower jaws, gill openings, pectoral fins, and first dorsal fin, the students enjoyed taking turns making the initial dissection incisions to help create the skin flaps that we could pull back to expose the organs. The large liver was the first organ we identified after securing the skin flaps in an open position. And although the specimen was especially small, we believe that we were able to visualize the stomach, small intestine, and spleen.
HISTORY
Our class was very fun this week as we explored native cultures in Central America: the Mayans, Incas and Aztecs. It happened to be Cinco de Mayo when we met, so we had a Mexican feast of tostadas and played a ball game outside based on an ancient Mayan game.
