Week 27: April 4-8 - Behold, He comes...

Behold, He comes…

The Garden Students retell the story of how Jesus entered Jerusalem, riding on a donkey, while the people shouted, “Ḧosana!”

We hope you enjoyed your week off. We are so happy to see you again in the next few days! Enjoy the photos of the classes that occured before our break. Even though it was a short week, we did a lot!

THE GARDEN

Elena’s new baby sister visited the Garden for the first time.

What an amazing time we had this week, with two special visitors: Baby Sarah and Grandma Betsy!

 “Hosanna, Hosanna”, yelled the Garden children as they re-enacted Jesus’ triumphal entry. Juan Diego played Jesus and Emma was the donkey. Matías and Alicia were disciples. Elena, Estrella, Edén and Olivia were in the crowd that had palms in their hands.  It was the first time Jesus publicly allowed people to adore and praise Him as King. The Messiah everyone had waited for had arrived.

Since today was a special day, the children got to play different board games and they had a blast! After snack time, it was the time they had all been waiting for…time to create our butterfly garden with Grandma Betsy!  Every child chose a flower they wanted to plant. All the children helped to pour the dirt and water and also prayed for the new garden. Grandma Betsy was a huge blessing as she led us in our new adventure of creating the butterfly garden. Afterwards, the kids played in the playground and before pick up time, finished reading the book about insects. God’s creation is marvelous!

SEEDS

CURRENT MEMORY VERSE

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;
— John 11:25

Great joy!

The smile on this emoji frisbee captures the fun we all have together at SEEDS!

In Botany we began talking about pollination and many kids were eager to share what they knew about this subject. We highlighted that bees and butterflies are some of the main pollinators and looked at a few slow-motion videos of them in action. With bees, we could see how much of the pollen got all over their bodies! It was fascinating to note that bees will choose one flower kind per day to visit in order to fulfill God’s design for pollination. They can also perceive UV light and identify patterns in the flowers that lead them to the nectar. Butterflies are less effective at pollinating than bees. However, unlike bees, they don’t need large landing pads in flowers to gather nectar; instead they use their proboscis which is a tubular organ used for sucking nectar. This week we will talk about other pollinators as well as self-pollinating plants.

Fun in the grass!

In History, we caught up with our timelines and state cards and are just entering into the 19th Century…so many rapid changes are about to occur in the area of industry and technology…plus these will be the last 50 years we cover for this year.

If you have the chance, read through the pages listed in the readings for this week to refresh the memory of the kids after our week off.
