Week 11: November 15-19 - He offers us Living Water

He offers us Living Water

Kids from The Garden played at the water table together.

The water that Jesus offers will never run dry

For the past two weeks, we have been focusing on “The Living Water” that Jesus offers. We first saw Him do this as He spoke to a Samaritan woman at the well, and then again, offer it to all who would hear Him in Jerusalem on the last and greatest day of the Feast of Tabernacles (John 7). His promise was that all who came to Him to drink would NEVER be thirsty again. In worship, we looked at all the ways we can be “thirsty” for things that can never satisfy us. Whether they be friends, money, or power…these will never fill us the way Jesus can. In fact, HIS water becomes a spring rising up INSIDE of us, when we believe and trust in Him.

So as we prepared for our break, we were all encouraged to continue focusing on the living water that Jesus offers all of us. That is truly something to be thankful for!

Our current memory verse:

If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.
— Memory Verse: John 7:37

THE GARDEN

Garden kids as “sheep” running after “The Shepherd.”

This week we had so much fun learning and talking about the One who created everything in the world. We talked about dinosaurs this week. Miss Vivi had stuffed animals and many books that talked about different kinds of dinosaurs and the kids were very excited. On Tuesday, we went to the big park where the children once again enjoyed the game “The Shepherd and the Sheep.” Afterwards, the kids drew with Miss Vivi and they all drew their own awesome dinosaurs! The children also played with the kitchen set and had a picnic with Miss Nicole. On Thursday, Miss Vivi emphasized with Psalm 24 and Psalm 100 that the world was created by God and everything in it was His. We were created by God, we are God's children and we are His sheep. Since it was a rainy day, we put on our boots and explored outside. We saw butterflies, discovered that the “Morivivi” plant opens and closes when it is touched and we played an animal guessing game which was enjoyed by all. Later on, the children got a chance to play with play-dough while using scissors to enhance fine motor skills. The water table was also available in activity time which was filled with water beads, dinosaurs and different-sized containers. It was a fun week at the Garden.

SEEDS

In Science, the children were happy to share their favorite moments from their field trip and our classes began with a bit of reminiscing. Then, we dove into learning about other features that God gave fish to make them so efficient for life underwater. We learned about their shape, gills, scales, swim bladder, and fins, It was so much fun to use a balloon in class to illustrate how God designed fish to use swim bladders to be able to float up to the surface by inflating them or dive deep into the water by deflating their swim bladders. On Friday, we focused on cartilaginous fish like sharks, rays, lampreys, and hagfish as well as concluding our study of fish by filling our journals with what we learned. We also enjoyed interesting presentations on this week's animals. Anaiah presented the Cottonmouth snake and Elise shared about one of the smallest mammals, the Pika.

When we look at the news today, one of the biggest countries we hear about is Russia. But iwe learned in History that n the 1600’s, Russia was quite an isolated empire until the rise of Peter the Great. We learned how he expanded the empire in a way that allowed it to trade with other countries and therefore became a major force in this time period. We also learned about the Ottoman Empire to the south, who also grew tremendously during this period of time. So an important thing that we took away from this is that as the colonies in the Americas were growing, other empires were growing as well.

In worship, we got to celebrate Cedrick as he and his family will be away for his birthday next month. As usual, he received a birthday book called “The Clubhouse.” We hope that he enjoys the book and wish his whole family a great journey and will miss both Cedrick and Derrick very much. Can’t wait to see you again!
